#10

This was an attempt at using chalk pastels to watercolor. I think further exploration of this technique will need to wait till I've got a better handle on dry pastels.

Here's a wrist corsage that was for a prom (yes a prom in January).

Another modern one.  I havn't done much in this style, so I wasn't sure how it would come out. It was a really slow day at work so I could take some time playing around with it. It was a lot of fun to figure out how I wanted the lines and color blocks, and I was happy with how it turned out. Now maybe I won't be as nervous when I get a request for modern.

#6

This one was for a funeral. It's always a little sad designing for those.

#5

I've found that even when I'm drawing or painting, it's usually of plants or flowers. Can you tell I'm a florist?

#4

This time you get two pictures because they go together. These were for an apartment building that my shop does flowers for. I don't normally design for them, but the other florist was out so I got to try my hand at their contemporary style.

#3

I've been trying to learn pastel painting cause I love trying new mediums and I find the chalkiness so fun. And hard. Pastels are definitely a work in progress for me.

#2

This one was for a birthday. Orange roses are the best kind.

To start this thing off (and because I meant to start over a week ago), I'm going to do a series of posts to fill in for the last week or so. First up is an arrangement I made for a guy to his wife for their anniversary. I love bright colors.

Intro

A friend of mine recently started a blog about appreciating art and incorporating it into her life, and it inspired me to try something similar (check it out at http://365chicagoart.blogspot.com/). I often struggle with sharing my art because it requires vulnerability and the acceptance of imperfections. And sometimes this leads to me just not making any art. So this year, I’m going to do a little experiment in learning to live a more creative lifestyle and get back in the habit of making art, and be willing to share the good and the bad.

For anyone who has ever followed my last blog, you know I’m not the world’s most consistent blogger, but this one’s gonna be different. I’m going to post a minimum of 3 times a week, and it could be anything from photography to sketches to floral design.  Some will be polished, some not.  I’m not entirely sure what direction this blog will take me, but I’m excited to find out.
